REARRANGING REALITIES The REARRANGING REALITIES DVD delivers a rare opportunity for you to view artist-to-artist interviews. These established artists share their opinions and insights - encouraging, inspiring and challenging emerging art-makers to raise the stakes when placing their intimate selves in front of a viewer. These candid and direct interviews also aid the demystification of artistic production for all interested parties. Artists include: BOBBY BAKER, JOHN CARSON, PAULINE GOLDSMITH, MANDY MCINTOSH, ROBERT PACITTI, AINE PHILLIPS, FIONA TEMPLETON & LISA WESLEY view the trailer / purchase DVD OCHONE OCHONE (solo video/ live performance) I enjoy dancing. I enjoy watching other people dance, especially when you catch them there, lost in the moment. Trouble is, there is no “in the moment”. Inescapably we leave the trail of our past behind us. “...more than an engagingly delivered series of quirky confidences... dealing with the ongoing grief and moral dilemmas that are Iraq, I doubt there are many shows that touch on that territory so tenderly and with such humanity.” more about Ochone Ochone
A warm welcome to my site.
You can access information on my two current projects “REARRANGING REALITIES” (DVD of Artist Interviews) and “OCHONE OCHONE” (solo video/ live performance), both developed during my recent Research Fellowship (awarded by Arts & Humanities Research Council and supported by The Royal Scottish Academy of Music & Drama, Glasgow School of Art, & New Moves International). New to the site will be A FORUM providing a platform for artists to discuss issues explored in the REARRANGING REALITIES DVD. Under PROJECTS you will also find a substantial archive with video clips. |

Donna Rutherford works in the realm of art performance as a writer, performer, director & video maker. Working on solo and collaborative projects in the UK and abroad, with a wide range of artists, dealing mostly with personal storytelling. "I began working with personal storytelling while at college in 1988, incorporating bits of psychology, song lyrics and random stories with versions of my own lived experience. I then developed ways of working with other performers’ stories - chopping them up, swapping them round, finding abstract connections. I’ve always been very interested in the ‘fine line’ between what is Personal and Interesting, and what is Personal and Self-indulgent. Increasingly my commissioned work collaborates with ‘real people’, as my faith in people’s stories is so strong now (partly after working through various community based projects). Essentially my work looks at how people deal with, and don’t deal with things in their life - when they are pushed to extremes or the side effects of ‘avoidance’. I believe all artists work with ‘the personal’, be it simply illustrating their perspective on the world or more directly referencing their own experience." |
